Symptoms

  • Pain that starts around the navel and moves to the lower right abdomen
  • Loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting
  • Fever
  • Pain that worsens when you move, cough or walk

When should you see a doctor?

Appendicitis is a medical emergency. Go to a hospital promptly if you have worsening abdominal pain with fever or vomiting.

Surgical treatment

Laparoscopic appendectomy removes the appendix through small cuts and usually allows a quick recovery.
